A trip to Johor Bahru International Orchid & Bonsai Show 2009

The Johor Bahru International Orchid & Bonsai show display is hosted in the newly built Danga Bay Convention Centre.

When one enters, he is welcomed by a beautiful landscape display consists of orchids and bonsai.

On the right side is the Bonsai Show Display, at the center is the Orchid Show display and the left side is the various Foreign and Local Landscape Display. There is 2 others display on the second floor, The Mini Table Orchid Display and the Orchid Flowerscape.

At the Bonsai Display area, many beautiful bonsai are placed on perpendicular rows of table where bonsai lovers can take a low stroll to enjoy the meticulously pruned and trained bonsai.

Overall Grand champion is a very desirable and well grown red form of cornu-cervi!

After being greeted by the winners once is treated to a wide array of orchids which are categorized and displayed according to the type of orchids

Some personal favorites of mine.

Anguloa clowesii which resemble tulips. These are cool growing orchids which would not survive Singapore’s tropical conditions, unless you have a cool house.

Outside the convention centre, culture shows are being stage at certain intervals.

Of course one can shop till his heart contend with the wide offerings of plants and wares but one interesting things to note, bonsai is not spotted on sale at any booth.
